Hope’s on the Way Celebrate Two Years of Service
They came together to meet and talk about their adventures. The members of all six teams came together for food and friendship and prayer. The second annual Hope’s on the Way Christmas gathering took place December 12th. From the afternoon set-up and the pot of Gumbo cooking in the kitchen to the slide show presentation of all six trips being shown on the screen, you could tell that the room was set for some good eating and laughter as we shared our personal memories of our trips. The famous stories of sweating so much your red shirts dyed your underwear pink, to waiting half a day for supplies to arrive to showers that trickled one drop at a time provided laughter to the others who remembered their experiences. It is amazing what a person will endure to help someone else.
I personally wish to thank these men and women volunteers who have given so generously of themselves. They are the work of God’s hands. Because of them, two years after the tragedy Hope is still on the Way. Even now, volunteers are lining up for the next three trips, March 8-15, May 31-June 5 and October 11-18, 2008. We welcome other volunteers. Just e-mail us and we will answer your questions or concerns.
May the Peace of Christ be with you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the love of God which beyond all understanding be with you always.
May this Christmas bring Peace, Joy and Happiness to our New Orleans friends and neighbors.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all,
Deacon Sal Lema,
Project Leader

Stuffed with food, we sit back and listen to the projects lined up
for the next year and consider when they wish to go again.
